Gordon explained the MOU was drafted by the sheriff's office and reviewed by fire department staff and county attorneys: "We formed a committee very early on ... It consisted of the sheriff's office, fire department, and county administration, along with emergency management," he said, and added the MOU covers maintenance costs, housing and certified drivers. Supervisors discussed edits clarifying the sheriff's office would own the unit and be in charge of repair and maintenance. Legal review was noted and the board approved the MOU by voice vote.
What’s next: The MOU will be circulated in redline form to supervisors and returned in August for further review if needed; the MOU is intended to guide unified-command deployment for larger incidents rather than routine small calls.
