Commission approves multiple budget amendments affecting sheriff, schools, solid waste and county funds

The Henry County Commission adopted a series of resolutions (2-10-25 through 7-10-25) authorizing budget amendments across several county funds for fiscal 2025-26.
Resolution 2-10-25 adjusts the General Fund to reflect revenue and expenditure changes for the Sheriff's Office, including a $50,000 increase in 'Donations' to support 'The Shed,' a $10,000 law enforcement grant and several smaller adjustments to overtime, travel and equipment accounts. A separate Sheriff Frey memo documents the requested transfers. Resolution 3-10-25 increases Solid Waste vehicle repair funding by $11,849.66 to replace a Ram 3500 engine after management recommended replacement for long-term reliability. Resolution 4-10-25 moves $1,672,744.91 within the General Purpose School Fund to support after-school programs, textbooks, capital projects and personnel. Resolution 5-10-25 increases Drug Control Fund vehicle repair spending by $30,000 funded from confiscated property proceeds to replace a boat motor. Resolution 6 and 7 move $1,000,000 from debt service reserves into other capital projects and record the offsetting transfer in the capital fund.
Commissioners voted to approve the entire package by recorded motions that the clerk spread into the minutes. County staff memos from Sheriff Josh Frey, Health Director Tracy Byrd, and Solid Waste Manager Ron Watkins appear in the packet as supporting documentation for the requested transfers.
