Veterans office reports rising contacts, new assistant selection

The Oneida County Veterans office reported a noticeable increase in client contacts at the June 15, 2026 Human Services Committee meeting. Mr. Matthew Young said the office handled "135 more calls last month than last year" and that staff opened "100 new files since March." He added he has passed his certification and is awaiting the certificate from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Mr. Young also reported that "Sam has officially been selected as the full time Assistant VSO," which will create an opening in the part‑time LTE position. Memorial Day services were described as successful. Committee members noted the corrected financial reporting entry for the veterans reports and accepted the department's financial reports as received.
