Infrastructure Committee reports progress at Fairgrounds, Porter Building and Sheriff's Office

Brian Wint told the Budget Board on Feb. 10 that work at the county Fairgrounds is progressing: the slab pour was completed last Thursday, generators passed a test cut and fencing around the generators is nearly finished. He said the Sheriff's Office project is scheduled to begin Feb. 17; the project held its first OAC meeting and will temporarily keep job trailers at the Fairgrounds until the contractor’s trailers arrive.
Wint also reported on the Porter Building: interior demolition is mostly complete, HVAC units have been installed, and crews were able to work around stored items. A forklift was purchased to move items to the second floor, where records storage is planned; because of weight restrictions the downstairs area will be used for other functions. He noted the building has a working elevator but it is not fully reliable, so stairs are recommended for access. Finally, he said the Election Board’s construction bid for the 631 building is out and awaiting Fire Marshal review.
