DRC asks for smaller perimeter trees where overhead utilities conflict

During review of landscape comments, staff noted overhead utility lines on the north property line and requested smaller planting stock in that area to avoid conflicts. Brian Thomas and Senior Planner Andrew Penny discussed spacing requirements and how existing large trees create conflicts that will affect species selection.
Penny clarified planting frequency: where property lines abut other properties the spacing standard is approximately "1 for every 75" feet, while along property abutting right‑of‑way the spacing is "1 for every 40." The committee told the applicant to respecify smaller trees in the conflict area and to follow the DRC's landscaping comments in the resubmittal.
Committee members acknowledged existing trees and overhead lines limit options and asked the consultant to revise the planting plan accordingly before permitting.
