Commissioners approve $1.1M for wildfire dozers and mitigation equipment
Bexar County authorized $1.1 million in fire code funds to purchase heavy equipment — dozers, skid steer, truck and trailer — to support wildfire suppression and create defensible space in partnership with local Emergency Service Districts.

The Commissioners Court approved a fire-code-funded purchase and budget transfer of $1,100,000 on Nov. 18 to buy equipment to support wildfire mitigation and response in Bexar County. Deputy Chief Mike Moreland of the Office of Emergency Management told the court the equipment will help create defensible space and support ESDs that sometimes must wait for state resources during large fires.
