County clerk authorized two digitization projects to make records and plats public electronically

The county clerk presented two projects to digitize records and plats and requested court approval to use special funds collected by the clerk's office. Lila told commissioners Revolution Data Systems would digitize historical records and make them electronically available to the public, and US Imaging Inc. would perform on-site scanning of plat cabinets A–G.
"They're gonna just, clean them up a little, digitize the records, and then we'll make them available electronically for the public," the county clerk said. Staff said the county has room for about 600 more plats in its cabinets and that new plat cabinets cost roughly $7,000 and hold about 400 plats; the digitization effort will allow the county to transition away from physical cabinets within about a year.
Commissioners approved both projects by unanimous vote; funding will come from special funds collected by the county clerk's office.
