Commissioners decline to authorize RFQ after extended debate over jail study
Potter County commissioners heard a lengthy presentation from Judge Griffin on jail population trends and consultant options, but a motion to issue an RFQ for outside jail services failed for lack of a second after commissioners split over whether a consultant or architect should lead planning.

The Potter County Commissioners Court debated whether to hire an outside consultant to study jail population, court flow and long-term bed needs but did not authorize a request-for-qualifications. Judge Griffin, who joined the meeting by phone, told the court that the county’s population has been stagnant while its jail population is rising and urged a thorough review of the entire system before committing to construction.
