Commission designates area for Senior Citizen PUD on General Plan map

The River Heights Planning Commission voted June 23 to designate a neighborhood area on the General Plan Land Use Map as a Senior Citizen Planned Unit Development (PUD) zone.
Commissioner Anna Lisa Davidson moved to "designate the area between 400 South and 600 South and approximately 700 East and 750 East on the General Plan Land Use Map as a Senior Citizen PUD Zone." Commissioner Troy Wakefield seconded the motion. The motion carried with Commissioners Noel Cooley, Anna Lisa Davidson, and Troy Wakefield in favor; Commissioners Steve Roberts and Keenan Ryan were recorded as absent.
The designation follows commission discussion of suggested goal insertions into the Infrastructure and City Utilities chapter and of strategies to encourage senior housing options. Commissioners also discussed other proposed occupancy-code changes that will be added to a future list of code amendments for additional consideration.
The commission recorded no public opposition at the meeting and scheduled no immediate implementation steps beyond including the map change in the General Plan edits to be forwarded as appropriate.
