District highlights school-safety work and a CTE partnership for ADA upgrades

Superintendent Leighton Anderson (S5) told the panel the school-violence prevention project (project #6) is largely complete at most schools and that remaining work will require comparatively smaller expenditures. Anderson said the project’s initial phase was launched with a federal COPS grant and later matched with other funds.
Anderson and staff also described a creative approach to some ADA upgrades: district CTE students, under professional supervision, are designing and performing select upgrades to reduce cost while maintaining compliance. Anderson said this provides hands-on learning for students and helps the district meet accessibility needs without overextending capital dollars.
