The Elko County TV District approved purchasing Technologics transmitters for the Rendon site after staff presented competing quotes. Chair (speaker 1) reviewed two vendor proposals: a Technologics package quoted at $59,562 and an AnyWave option quoted at $69,480. Peyton (speaker 8), the district’s technical contractor, explained the trade-offs: AnyWave units are higher‑power hardware the district would not run at full capacity and would require factory returns for certain upgrades, while Technologics’ exciters are upgradable with software licenses toward ATSC 3.0.
Peyton said Technologics’ configuration better fit Rendon’s low‑power licensing (the board noted the site runs at roughly 10–15 watts ERP) and allows future codec or licensing upgrades without shipping equipment back for factory service. ‘‘Technologics would be better to have because it is able to be upgraded with a license to ATSC 3.0 if the field goes that direction,’’ Peyton said. After discussion the board moved and approved direct purchase from Technologics and authorized Eagle Communications to handle installation under the district’s procurement and service arrangements.
The board instructed staff to request final updated quotes, issue a purchase order and proceed with procurement and installation planning. Estimated capital impact was presented as under the district’s remaining capital budget for the year; with installation, the board expected the purchase to keep capital totals within budget.
