Convention center upgrades continue; ECVA outlines $450,000 capital plan

The Elko County Convention & Visitors Authority reported recent repairs and a plan of capital projects: $450,000 for major repairs this year and about $500,000 projected for next year, plus smaller purchases funded from room tax and general funds.

Annette Kerr, representing the Elko County Convention & Visitors Authority (ECVA), told commissioners that the authority concluded a burdensome lease and that the conference center has been reconveyed to the ECVA. Kerr reviewed completed work this fiscal year — drainage and vault repair, sewer line replacement, theater LED lights, new theater screen and partial exterior painting — and said the >$10,000 capital list for the year totals $450,000 with next year’s larger projects estimated at about $500,000.
