Orange County establishes Transportation Task Force to study countywide transit needs

The Orange County Legislature created a special Transportation Task Force Committee on Feb. 5 to study transportation needs, research funding opportunities and coordinate with state and regional agencies.
The panel will be chaired by Legislator Gabrielle Hill and include up to nine legislators; it will receive advisory assistance from county department heads (Planning, Public Works, Social Services and Mental Health), the Orange County Transportation Council and other local partners. Ms. Ramos said the county lacks an interconnected transit system and that the task force will let the Legislature “really dive into” solutions. Ms. Hill, citing work she did on the Newburgh Transportation Advisory Committee, said the committee will help connect labor to jobs and improve paratransit and regional mobility.
The resolution requires the Task Force to report to the Rules, Enactments, and Intergovernmental Relations Statutory Committee and produce an annual report of findings and recommendations.
