Commissioners accept Cedar Creek Trail segments after change orders; middle segment increased, west finalized under budget

Allen County Highway Director Bill Hartman presented change orders and final acceptances for segments of the Cedar Creek Trail. The west segment's final change order with API Construction Corp. resulted in an $11,005.47 decrease after removal of concrete curbing to improve surface runoff; the board accepted the west segment project for a final amount of $792,645.53.
Hartman also presented Change Order #1 for the middle segment with Fleming Excavation Inc., which increased the contract by $97,824.06 because of additional undercutting, mulch seeding, riprap and excavation to achieve a more stable trail foundation. Hartman noted the middle segment still came in under the engineer's original estimate; the board accepted the middle segment as complete for $1,604,925.09. Both actions were approved 3-0.
