"We will renew our 90-day burn ban to be the daily weather-based burn ban, as we've been using, for another 90 days pending approval," Commissioner Kevin Burns moved, and the motion carried without opposition.
Doughty told the court the renewal is tied to daily weather conditions and confirmed that, under state statutory thresholds, the county cannot broadly regulate July 4 fireworks this year because the drought index did not reach the June 15 threshold that would permit such a restriction. The court's action instructs county staff to continue implementing the weather-based restrictions and to monitor conditions over the coming weeks.
