Wise County renews 90-day weather-based burn ban
The Wise County Commissioners' Court voted unanimously June 8 to renew a 90-day weather-based burn ban after Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty recommended extension; the county said it cannot regulate July 4 fireworks because the drought index did not meet the statutory threshold.

The Wise County Commissioners' Court unanimously voted June 8 to renew a 90-day weather-based burn ban after Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty recommended the extension to limit outdoor burning on days with elevated or extreme fire danger. "We will renew our 90-day burn ban to be the daily weather-based burn ban, as we've been using, for another 90 days pending approval," Commissioner Kevin Burns moved, and the motion carried without opposition.
