Neighbors push city to uphold Point Ruston Master Plan; packet from Commencement association submitted

Multiple residents and the Commencement Owners Association provided written submissions before and at the Jan. 20 meeting opposing any variance from the Point Ruston Master Plan. The correspondence—dated between December 2025 and January 2026—argued that increasing allowed building heights would obstruct views from the Commencement condominiums, depress property values, and strain local infrastructure including parking, sewer and emergency access.
Tom Poole, identified in the packet as president of the Commencement Owners Association, provided a packet to the council that the minutes note was attached to the record. The letters call on the council to deny requests to raise building heights and to require strict adherence to the adopted master plan and EPA obligations for the OCF. The council acknowledged receipt; no variance application or council vote on a variance occurred at the meeting.
