Pierce Transit presents long-range plan; Ruston council asks for Point Ruston follow-up

Pierce Transit Service Planning Assistant Manager Andrew Arnes and Senior Planner Brittany Carbullido presented the agency's long-range service plan to the Ruston City Council, describing scenarios for future service and connections to Point Ruston. "Ridership has increased by an average of 6% across the board," Arnes told the council and provided 2024 metrics for staff review.
Councilmembers probed how the Point Ruston connections would be determined and who event organizers should contact for special-event service. Arnes said Point Ruston connections are conceptual and "the selection of scenarios is decided by the Board of Commissioners," and he directed organizers to designated Pierce Transit staff for event-service requests. Mayor Hopkins asked that routes be reviewed annually and asked to be included in Point Ruston discussions; Councilmember Jensen warned that recent traffic increases may not yet be fully reflected in the agency's metrics. Pierce Transit said it would provide follow-up responses to the council's questions.
