Ottawa County authorizes Midwest Compost contract for wastewater sludge disposal
The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized a contract with Midwest Compost, Inc. for sludge disposal at the Portage/Catawba Island Wastewater Treatment Plant following a recommendation from the Sanitary Engineer; the motion passed 3-0 on Feb. 3, 2026.

The Board of Ottawa County Commissioners on Feb. 3 authorized the president of the Board to sign a contract with Midwest Compost, Inc. for sludge disposal at the Portage/Catawba Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The motion was made by Commissioner Donald A. Douglas and seconded by Commissioner Mark E. Coppeler and approved by Commissioners Mark W. Stahl, Donald A. Douglas and Mark E. Coppeler (vote 3-0).
