Public Works details patching plans, inspector report errors and W Road concerns

Public Works Director Scott Keiffabber told the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners on April 13 that patching work is scheduled to begin this week and that the county completed a spill-prevention project for fuel tanks about a week and a half earlier.
Keiffabber also said a state-contracted inspector who performed a walk‑around produced “several mistakes in his report,” and that Keiffabber will address those errors with the inspector. He added a truck needing motor work will be repaired this week because parts arrived Friday. Chairman Mark Pruett asked about W Road width; Keiffabber responded, “it is 24 feet and that it is correct,” and said outstanding drop-off issues remain because the road is not finished and will be addressed.
Road and Bridge Superintendent Joe Gardner and Keiffabber listed recent road work across county routes, including sections of R Road, 182nd Road, D Road, 178th Road, T Road, 254th Road and others. The report gave the board operational details but did not include a firm timeline for when the listed drop‑off corrections will be completed.
Commissioners asked staff to evaluate whether to continue current crack‑repair patching methods or contract hot tar work, and Pruett directed staff to return with options. The meeting record did not show any vote or final decision on contracting method during the session.
