Gary D. Yenzer moved for adoption and Merl Page seconded; Bill Drew voted against the motion and was recorded saying he "hadn't read it all."
Emergency Management Director Jennifer Merrow had summarized related work in progress, including 4th of July planning, Teen CERT efforts, an outdoor warning-siren project and a tabletop exercise for Wellsprings of Westmoreland. County officials said adopting the plan provides the county with an updated framework for risk reduction and helps maintain eligibility for certain state and federal mitigation grants. The board did not record any amendments to the plan during the motion.
The resolution number associated with the adoption is Resolution 2026-14. With the plan approved, staff may proceed with implementation steps tied to the plan and pursue grant or hazard-mitigation funding linked to the updated document. The board took the vote during the regular meeting held at 8:30 a.m. on March 30 in the Sunflower Room in Westmoreland.
