Ericia Cordell updated the commission on emergency-management work at the Sept. 30 meeting. Cordell said she attended the KEMA conference in Manhattan and the Homeland Security Council meeting in Chanute, and that the county's Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) application was submitted and accepted by the State. Cordell and Kandy Dowell attended basic pet-sheltering training in Emporia and said they are in the early stages of planning a preparedness fair. Cordell also announced a regional water-shortage tabletop exercise in Chanute on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Cordell presented these items as informational updates; the transcript did not include budget figures, grant award amounts, or firm dates for the preparedness fair.
