Board approves resolution J26 after scope change for campus communications work

The board approved Resolution J26 after staff said a state scope change and a fire marshal review allowed the district to demonstrate delivered audio quality (DAQ) rather than install a full distributed antenna system (DAS) at two campuses. Staff asked the board to reject all expired bids and pursue the work through the small-works roster.
An IT/communications staff member explained the sequence: the district applied for a local community project to install DAS equipment at Tukes and Pleasant Valley campuses; after testing and consultation, CRESA and the fire marshal agreed that delivered-audio quality could achieve the required signal for first responders. Staff submitted a scope-change request to the state in October and received approval July 6; because the original bids had expired and vendor labor costs had risen, staff recommended rejecting bids and using the small-works roster. “I received approval for that scope change July 6,” the staffer said. The board voted to approve Resolution J26 as presented.
Board members noted that safety remained the priority and that the revised approach had the fire marshal’s sign-off. Staff will move forward to re-solicit or contract under the small-works process.
