Roosevelt County approves Everbridge mass-notification system to replace hacked CodeRed service

Roosevelt County commissioners voted Feb. 24 to approve a DES request to purchase the Everbridge mass-notification system at an annual cost of $3,666.25, replacing the CodeRed service that was taken offline after a cyber incident in October 2025.
"A motion was made by Commissioner Marottek to approve DES request to purchase Everbridge Mass Notification System in the amount of $3,666.25 a year," the minutes state; Commissioner Oelkers seconded and the motion passed. Lindsey McNabb, DES coordinator, told the board the system has been approved by the 911 Board and will be paid for from the dispatch fund; she said she will issue a public notice once the system is set up and fully operational.
Commissioners noted the change follows the unavailability of CodeRed since the hack in October 2025 and emphasized the importance of restoring mass-notification capability for public safety and emergency dispatch.
