Chief Deputy Arnold Butcher said the Sheriff's Office has been aligning administrative duties and proposed reclassifying a soon-to-be-vacant Jail Administrative Support position to an Account Tech I or II to keep financial tasks close to the point of transaction. He noted the department has the budget to absorb the change but that an Account Tech II is an upgrade requiring full Commission approval. Butcher thanked HR Business Partner Nathalia Cornell for her work on the request.
Sheriff Kelly Sparks updated the Commission on the County's 911 consolidation, saying operations from Layton would transfer into the new Dispatch Center imminently and staff will use the time before October to sort out issues; the County plans to reduce four dispatch centers to two with a potential single center in the future. Chief Deputy Butcher invited the Commission and staff to a farewell for the old Layton center on Sept. 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
