UTA/UDOT present Frontrunner 2X plan to double peak service in corridor
UTA and UDOT brief the Davis County Commission on the Frontrunner 2X project — a strategic double-tracking program that aims to cut headways from 30 to 15 minutes during peak hours, add one Bluffdale station, acquire 10 train sets, and build a new maintenance facility near the Davis–Salt Lake county line, with construction beginning next year and project completion targeted by 2030.

UTA and UDOT officials updated the Davis County Commission on the Frontrunner 2X strategic double-tracking project, saying it will expand parts of the 83-mile corridor to allow trains to run twice as often. "That's the Frontrunner 2X project," presenter Frank Parker told commissioners, describing how adding targeted double-track sections will reduce peak headways from 30 minutes to 15 minutes and off‑peak headways from 60 to 30 minutes.
