County approves $200,000 engineering assignment for Lucerne Marina ADA improvements

Daggett County commissioners voted to approve an assignment order to Jones & DeMille Engineering for $200,000 to design and plan Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility improvements at Lucerne Marina. The motion was offered by a committee member and carried on a voice vote.
The county described the project as a planning and site-review effort that will study options for an accessible pathway from the parking area to an existing chairlift, a small pavilion and a courtesy dock on the opposite side of the cove. "Make a motion to approve the assignment order to Jones and DeMille in the amount of $200,000 for the purposes of planning and site review ... for ADA as well as general public access to their boats and to the water," the committee member said during the meeting. Staff confirmed Lucerne town officials have been contacted and will be included in project coordination.
Commissioners noted prior work at the marina, including a chairlift installed near the south end that allows transferring a person into a boat, but said there is currently no accessible pathway from parking to that lift. County staff said the engineering work will assess excavation needs on one hillside and produce plans that incorporate multiple water levels. The assignment order funds the engineering and planning phase only; no construction contract was awarded at the meeting.
