Assistant director reports chip‑seal progress, 134 July maintenance requests

Assistant Director Beau reported to the Nye County Regional Transportation Commission that "Public Works received a 134 online maintenance requests in the month of July," including 64 pothole requests and multiple weed and road‑maintenance items. He credited crews for working in the heat and said they completed major chip‑seal segments and other routine work across the county.

Beau said the Central District completed "2 miles of chip seal on Valley View" and that crews hauled about "650 ton of chips" for remote projects such as the Amargosa‑to‑Beatty run — about "35 round trips" to move material. He also described work in the Southern District (mowing, durapatcher prep) and said Pahrump had about "13 and 0.5 miles of the 15 miles planned" finished, with the remaining mile and a half awaiting equipment returning from the north. "So starting in the Central District, the prompt chip seal crew... completed 2 miles of chip seal on Valley View," he said.

Commissioners pressed for logistics and cleanup details after residents complained about loose rock left on chip‑sealed roads. Beau acknowledged the feedback and said sweeping and cleanup remained scheduled. The commission asked for briefer future presentations highlighting major accomplishments and a few before/after photos to show progress and reduce minutiae in reports.
