Residents press district to address downed trees, conservation area and speed‑sign project

Several residents used the Aug. 27 public‑comment period to press the district on operational maintenance and permitting. Anita Bachragh asked that a downed tree by River 9 Catch Basin #134 be brought upright and expressed concern that the conservation area needed clearing; Operations Manager Shane Willis said he would review past minutes and asked Ms. Bachragh to send photographs so staff could assess whether additional work is required.

Christine Mantilia asked about stormwater management permits and whether the fire department could use lake water to lower levels; District Engineer Charlie Krebs replied that "this is not typical, as the fire department would pull in plants, fish, etc., from the lakes," and that using lake water would require approval from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). Resident Larry Fiesel asked about a speed sign project; Mr. Willis said Mr. Long is scheduling training with staff and would provide an update at the next meeting.
