Board adopts new core courses for middle and high school students

On March 10 the Salina Board of Education approved multiple curriculum changes intended to expand career and technical instruction and foundational computer skills. Specifically, Agricultural Exploration was approved as a core class for all eighth-grade students; Microsoft Office/Google Workspace was approved as a core class for all seventh-grade students; Keyboarding was approved as a core class for all sixth-grade students; and Senior Capstone was approved as a core class for seniors covering life skills, personal financial literacy, health, and use of ICAP for post‑secondary planning.
In a related facilities decision, the board approved repurposing the Ag/Tech Ed Building to create an additional agriculture classroom. All curriculum and repurposing motions passed unanimously on recorded roll-call votes.
