Town Planner Christine reported that FEMA approved the town's Hazard Mitigation Plan review. She said the final procedural step is Select Board placement for approval; once adopted by the Select Board the plan will be official and will keep Harwich current for five years, a status that Christine said is important for competing for state and federal hazard‑mitigation grants.
Christine emphasized the role department heads played in preparing the plan and credited the Cape Cod Commission planner who assisted the town. She said the plan will provide guidance to town boards and committees on land‑use and growth management related to hazard mitigation over the coming planning period.
