MPO releases Amendment 2 to 2050 long-range plan for 30-day public comment

The Abbot Metropolitan Planning Organization’s staff recommended releasing Amendment 2 of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan for public comment, saying the amendment adds the previously reprioritized Waldrop Interchange into the fiscally constrained long-range plan.
"As you know, all projects that are funded in the TIP must be included in the Long Range Plan in order to be eligible to be selected," said the staff member presenting the item. Staff told the board the Pine Street interchange was moved back to 2032 and the Waldrop Interchange was being inserted into the plan’s schedule.
The staff member said the desired action was "releasing Amendment Number 2 for public comment period and hopefully adoption at your next meeting." Committee member Speaker 4 moved to release the amendment and the motion passed with a second and no objections.
The amendment will be posted for at least a 30-day public comment period; staff said any additional transit projects that emerge would be included during that comment period. The board did not take final adoption action at this meeting, only a release to solicit public input.
