The Ray County Commission voted on July 9, 2026 to approve a conditional-use permit (CUP) for a private trap range at the residence of Mike Vassimer. The permit changes operating hours to seven days a week from sunrise to sundown and authorizes construction of an NRA-style berm to support pistol and rifle shooting. The motion was moved by Commissioner Bobby Don Davis, seconded by Commissioner Max Hockemeier, and recorded as carried 3-0.
