The Soap Lake City Council voted to appoint a Mayor Pro Tempore for the next six months and later nominated Councilmember Peter Sharp to fill the position. An initial procedural motion to establish a six‑month term (M/Sharp, S/Carson) carried unanimously; a subsequent nomination (M/Bryson, S/Carson) to make Sharp Mayor Pro Tempore passed with Councilmember Gorman voting no and Sharp abstaining.
