Operations update: code enforcement activity, park projects and in-house paving restart

Operations staff asked to summarize recent compliance and public-services work reported June activity and near-term projects. Harris (operations) said the code program opened 130 new cases, completed 417 inspections, processed 181 permits and conducted 71 multifamily inspections in June; "Compliance collected, as a whole, $41,379, including approximately, $7,000 in trial fines," he said.
Harris also provided parks and facilities updates: Erwin Park baseball fields are roughly 95% complete and staff will do a walk-through and punch list. The Oak Ridge splash pad has required emergency repairs and staff plan to resurface it at season's end to avoid further closures. Streets repaired 64 potholes in June and the city restarted an in-house asphalt paving program to reduce contractor costs and deliver longer-term fixes. Fleet improvements include a new Maxus MS909 computer system and a commercial tire machine to reduce outsourcing.
