Commission supports application for arts master plan grant and pauses policy drafting

Commissioners discussed whether to pursue a grant to fund an arts master plan for Huber Heights and broadly supported the idea. Sarah Forsyth described the master plan as a way to gather stakeholder input, identify sites for public art, and produce policy templates: "This could give us an idea... They'd talk to all of you, they'd talk to other stakeholders in the community, and they'd say, here's some basic policy that you should start with," she said.

The commission voted to support parks & rec in applying for the grant and to pause active policy-and-procedure drafting while consultants conduct the master plan work and engage stakeholders. Commissioners noted that using an outside master-plan process could save staff time and help the commission adopt tested policies from similar-size cities.
