Council approved Resolution 2026-3241 authorizing CDC funding for replacement of the problematic chessboard shade structure at Doubletree Ranch after staff presented options and CDC's prior recommendation. Staff told council the existing fabric had been replaced in 2023 for $12,000 but sagged and was vandalized; the CDC recommended a single four-post, 30-by-30 shade system at a cost of $61,811. "The shade fabric was replaced in 2023 at the cost of $12,000 and has already been vandalized again and had to be removed," a parks presenter told the council as she outlined options that ranged from planting trees ($12,762–$17,612) to full demolition and replanting ($36,900–$41,819).
