Flats south-unit work moving toward construction; EGLE permit limits large dewatering

Roscommon County received an update April 8 on the Flats infrastructure project, which county and state staff expect to begin constructing soon after final preparations. Regional wetland infrastructure biologist Brandy Dybas-Berger told the board the work began with a 2018 engineering study by Wade Trim and the south unit has been contracted to Greenscape General Contracting with Wade Trim serving as project engineer.
Brandy Dybas-Berger said the project team is coordinating with the Roscommon County Road Commission on traffic navigation during construction and will install public signage for notices and information. "The EGLE permit is for cofferdam and embankments without significant dewatering," Dybas-Berger said, describing permit limits that shape how construction proceeds.
The board heard that Wade Trim is the engineering project manager and that EGLE is a partnering agency for permitting oversight. Commissioners were informed the bidding and contractor selection for the south unit are complete and that staff will finalize logistics and public notices ahead of construction.
