CB 47 would update the county building code to conform with the 2021 editions of the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, International Energy Conservation Code and related codes, and to adopt the 2020 National Electrical Code for residential provisions.
Budget and Policy Analyst Alex Hertel said the bill may result in a "minimal negative direct fiscal impact" tied to staff training, enforcement and outreach, but that it could yield long-term safety and energy-efficiency benefits. DPIE Chief of Staff Laurie Paris said the county worked with stakeholders and that no public comments were received. The committee moved a favorable recommendation (4-0).
