Senior Resources presents 2026 area plan and seeks county input

Pam Curtis, CEO of Senior Resources of West Michigan, told commissioners June 24 that Senior Resources is the Area Agency on Aging for Ottawa, Muskegon and Oceana counties and described a multiyear plan for older‑adult services. Curtis introduced Amy Fleurier, the organization’s community services director and planner, who summarized how federal Older Americans Act dollars and state Older Michiganians Act funds will be applied locally.

Fleurier said the plan outlines in‑home assessments, caregiver support, adult‑day respite, nutrition and outreach and noted the organization partners with local providers such as 4 Points, Evergreen Commons and GT Connections to deliver services that help older adults stay in their homes. “We work really closely with 4 Points and Evergreen Commons and GT Connections, to make sure that older adults have services that they need to stay in their homes with the support that they require,” Fleurier said.

Commissioners asked for clarifications about staffing and service gaps; Fleurier said the area served includes about 95 employees in the multi‑county network and that partners across the three counties total more than 70 agencies. She identified the top two needs emerging from community input as lack of transportation and lack of affordable housing for older adults, and said Senior Resources is engaging in advocacy around federal funding threats. Fleurier invited commissioners and the public to comment through June 30 and provided contact information in the meeting packet.

Chair noted no formal board action was required, describing the item as a statutory notice requirement; commissioners thanked the presenters and encouraged further outreach and periodic briefings.
