At the May 14 public hearing on the proposed FY2026‑27 county budget, Amy Adams, Director of the Wythe‑Grayson Regional Library, requested an additional $10,000 in local funding to help maintain staffing.
Adams said the library has reworked its budget and identified savings but still faces a staffing shortfall because state funds the library receives cannot be used for payroll. "One problem is maintaining staff — we do receive state funding but because of budget constraints, not allowed to use that for payroll so all staffing funds come from local funds," Adams told the Board. The hearing on the proposed budget was closed thereafter; further budget deliberations and formal adoption will occur in subsequent county budgeting processes.
