Kendall County authorizes DA to apply for DOJ grant in split vote

The Kendall County Commissioners’ Court voted June 9 to allow the district attorney to apply for the U.S. Department of Justice grant program 'OJP FY 2026 Special Attorney’s Program: Round 3,' described in the agenda as intended to "strengthen investigative and prosecutorial capacity, expand intergovernmental coordination, and enhance the ability of jurisdictions to investigate and prosecute fraud as well as human trafficking." County Judge Shane Stolarczyk moved the authorization; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Richard Chapman and carried with Commissioner Jennifer McCall voting nay and County Judge Stolarczyk recorded as abstaining, yielding a recorded result of 3-1-0 in favor.
