City Engineer Tom Nachmus said Fargo manages a large signal network and uses software tools and spacing strategies to time signals so drivers who follow the posted speed limit are more likely to encounter green lights along corridors. “I think we have like 180 signalized intersections in the city,” Nachmus said, noting the work needed to maintain and coordinate signal systems.
