Board approves $4,230 replacement A/C unit for county landfill

The Clay County Board on April 27 approved replacement of an aging A/C unit at the county landfill, accepting a $4,230 quote from Comfort Heating and Air for a Ducane 13 SEER 1.5 unit.
Whiteny Baer, the county's Noxious Weed Manager, told the board the existing unit dated from 1989 and that Carlson Heating and Air had advised replacement rather than repair. Two quotes were presented: Comfort Heating and Air at $4,230 for a Ducane unit and Carlson Heating and Air at $4,478.45 for a Trane unit. Commissioner Carlson moved to purchase the Ducane unit from Comfort Heating and Air; Commissioner Mayo seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Carlson also asked Baer about spraying activity and instructed staff to spray on suitable days, particularly in the Oak Hill and Longford areas.
