Hemphill County Judge Lisa Johnson and the Commissioners' Court voted on March 9 to extend the county burn ban through April 1, 2026, with a review scheduled for the March 30 meeting. Commissioner Dale Schafer made the motion to extend the ban and Commissioner Tim Alexander seconded; the motion "carried unopposed."
