During the public-comment portion of the April 24, 2025 meeting, Jarom Smith, representing the Lyon County Observer, asked commissioners to clarify whether they speak about county business outside of public meetings. Smith said he had concerns about commissioners speaking outside the meeting.
Commissioners Ken Duft and Doug Peck responded to the comment, assuring Smith that "there is no business discussed anytime or anywhere that it should not be." No formal complaint or follow-up action was recorded in the minutes.
