Patrick County EDA notes $100,000 Altigen payment; asbestos reimbursement expected

The Patrick County Economic Development Authority on Feb. 25 approved its financial report after hearing that a $100,000 payment to Altigen Energy for a natural gas study had to be reissued.
Noah Mabe, Small Business & Economic Development Coordinator, told the Authority that an initial check to Altigen Energy was voided after it remained in transit longer than expected; he met a company representative and handed over a physical check for $100,000. According to the report, the County later reimbursed the Authority using grant funds allocated for the study. Director of Economic Development & Tourism James Houchins told the board he expects reimbursement for asbestos abatement at the True Value building within 30 days. On a motion by Rodney Boyd, seconded by Rodney Overby, the financial report was approved unanimously by the four board members present.
The approvals completed routine business items; the Authority did not alter spending authorizations or award new contracts during the meeting. The board set its next regular meeting for March 25, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
