Staff outlines schedule and public-comment process for comprehensive plan update

Staff reported that the comprehensive plan update team held a community open house earlier in the month and that turnout and engagement were positive. “We're not changing everything that’s in the ordinance. This is an update,” planning staff said, describing the effort largely as a data update with targeted future land use policy considerations.
Staff told the commission they will compile public comments and provide an itemized chart showing recommended changes or noting when no change is recommended; comments will be redacted for privacy. Public comment for the plan closes Dec. 1, staff plan to provide commissioners compiled comments and a solid draft at the January meeting, and a public hearing is being targeted for the February planning commission meeting.
