Board approves second‑reading policy updates; AI policy introduced for first reading
Summary
The Vernonia School Board approved several second‑reading policies including program exemptions, restraint/seclusion, expulsion, student health services, public records and complaints. The district also presented an Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy for first reading.
During its meeting June 12 the board approved a package of policies that had been presented for second reading: IGBHD (Program Exemptions), JGAB (Use of Restraint or Seclusion), JGE (Expulsion), JHC (Student Health Services & Requirements), KBA and KBA‑AR (Public Records and Requests), and KL (Public Complaints). Javoss McGuire moved to approve the second‑reading policies and the motion passed unanimously with those in attendance.
The Policy Committee also reported minor language updates and noted the addition of an Artificial Intelligence policy (IKJ) presented for first reading; the board will consider that policy at a future meeting after committee review.
