Water, wastewater report: July usage up; security gate posts requested

Esther Bobby Archer presented the water and wastewater monthly report for July 2025. Archer reported water production of 1,727,200 gallons compared with 1,085,400 gallons the prior year and said the system averaged about 55,716 gallons per day while pumps ran. On wastewater, Archer reported a total of 114,612 gallons for the period versus 113,518 last year, averaging roughly 3,697 gallons per day.
"No problems ... everything's running smooth," Archer said, noting relief operators are gaining experience and that a planned septic pumping project remains scheduled for the fall when temperatures are cooler. Council members asked whether equipment and scheduling for the pumping were confirmed and Archer said the timing should allow the work to proceed.
Council also discussed installing security gate posts to restrict access to the wastewater treatment plant's service road and estimated the work at about $2,000, with the mayor noting the likely funding source would be the Highway Fund. Staff said they would keep the council updated as estimates firm up.
