The Governor's Water Quality and Quantity Task Force released a Final Report in April 2026 offering a set of recommendations aimed at statewide water protection, emphasizing incentives, innovation and education over new regulation. Key recommendations include expanded voluntary statewide water measurement with cost-share options, statewide education materials and producer engagement, a nitrogen management education and certification program, promotion of in‑season nitrate applications and advanced nutrient‑management technologies, and proactive drinking-water system protections with consideration of regionalization opportunities.
